Headshots: Amanda Nelli

I’m excited to put up this post for two reasons:

1) It features a good friend of mine, the lovely Amanda Nelli

and

2) It gives me a chance to check out a feature of my new site, which gives me the ability to embed Lightbox galleries within a post.

Doubly exciting!

Amanda is an extremely talented mezzo soprano opera singer.  She also teaches elementary school music, and runs one of the coolest boys’ choirs ever (they’re called “The Terminators”, so really, how much cooler could they get?).

I’m upgrading!

Welcome to the new and improving website/blog for Caralin Ruth Photography!

My old website was in need of more than a little TLC, so I finally decided to make the leap and combine my website and blog into one.  Snazzy blog/site in one = less work and more goodness!  In order for this to work, I’ve made a promise to myself, and now to you, that I will keep this blog updated MUCH more regularly that I did in the past.  All of the other information that was available on my old website will still be here and will hopefully be easy to find and access.  That’s where you come in: as you browse around my new digs, please contact me (call, email, use my contact form, or send a carrier pigeon) to let me know your thoughts and suggestions on the new layout or anything within it.

Lucky for me, my decision to switch has timed perfectly with the release of an upgrade from ProPhoto blogs.  I’ve used and loved their ProPhoto2 theme since starting this blog, but the benefits of their new ProPhoto3 were going to make my new site better, sexier, and easier for both me and you, so I jumped at the chance!  If anyone is looking to start a photo blog, I really do recommend their services – they have amazing, easy-to-customize products and excellent customer service.

Anyway, please “excuse my dust” as I renovate – I hope you like the new site!

Chris and Katy’s Wedding

This was such a fun wedding!

Katy and I used to work together, so I was thrilled when she asked me to take the photos for her and Chris on their big day.

The Greek Orthodox ceremony was held at the beautiful Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Cathedral in downtown Toronto.

I love this look I caught while the best man signed the registry.  Relief – they’re married!

We went down to the beautiful University of Toronto for the wedding photos, and the day could not have been more perfect.  Look at that sky!

The little ones were so cute.  I’m not sure what it was they were looking at, but they were so entranced that they didn’t notice me sneaking this picture!

Katy and her bridesmaids did some looking of their own – at the CN Tower, of course!  Don’t worry…  she has eyes only for Chris. :)

The reception was held at the Argonaut Rowing Club, which is right on the water on Toronto’s lakeshore.  Katy and Chris share their first dance:

Katy and Chris had couple of unique requests for their wedding cake, one of which was that the photographer make it!  Katy knew from working with me that I also love baking and decorating cakes, so I did double-duty at her wedding.  What a fun cake it was to make, too!  The first chapter book Katy ever read was “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, and since she has always loved it and Chris is a chef, they figured it fit with the theme.  What a “sweet” way to begin their life together – complete with a chocolate waterfall!

With everyone full on cake and a fabulous dinner catered by some of Chris’s coworkers, the Greek dancing went late into the night.

What a fabulous party and a fabulous couple.  Thank you again for letting me share in the beginning of your many years of happiness together!
