How will my session work?

Before meeting, Caralin will talk with you about the style of photos you want and location options. 

On the day of the shoot, you will meet at the agreed location and spend one to two fun, relaxed hours making beautiful photo magic.  Within a week, you will receive a mailed CD containing email-quality proofs of all images.  Once you have selected your final images, Caralin will retouch, format and burn your high-quality images to a second CD. 

Both CDs are yours to keep, to print as many or as few copies as you’d like.  Just to warn you – you’re going to look so good that everyone will want a copy, so keep an eye out for discounts on bulk printing packages.

Where do sessions take place?

Since most people don’t hang out in studios, Caralin prefers the natural look and feel of on-location sessions.  This could be in the comfort of your own home or business or at any number of outdoor locations around the city.  Choose a location with special meaning to you, or contact Caralin for suggestions. 

In-studio sessions are also available for an extra fee. 

What should I wear?

For headshots, the classic advice is to avoid “loud” choices, such as logos, or distracting prints that may detract from your lovely face.  People want to see you, not your clothes!  That said, if you want to make a bold choice, go for it – these photos are about showing off who you are.  Bright colours, dressed up, dressed down, mixed and matched, layers.  You’ve got a few looks to play with, so bring a bunch and have some fun!

Same goes for portraits.  Consider the message you want to send.  If these photos are meant to capture the real you in this moment of your life, wear whatever you feel good in.  Take some of the above headshot advice, or don’t – whatever makes you happy, because happy people look good in photos.

What about hair and makeup?

For all sessions, professional hair and makeup is available for $100/person if requested at time of booking.  If you choose this service, please arrive with clean, product-free face and hair.  If you are doing your own hair and makeup, please arrive looking fabulous and ready to shoot.  Don’t worry about messing up your look en route – we’ll always take time for a post-transit touch up.
